About this artwork Andy Warhol started paying a lot of attention to money in the early 60s. He began sketching and silk-screening images of dollar bills around this time. He shifted his focus to the connection between art and commerce during the 70s. Throughout his career, whether as a commercial illustrator or as a distinguished artist, Warhol consistently highlighted the connection between money and his art. In 1981, he created the Dollar Signs series, which have become some of his most famous pieces. The 80s became a symbolic era representing the bond between art and money. Warhol even said, “Being good in business is the most fascinating kind of art.”
