The FreeStyle Libre 3 system is a continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system designed for people with diabetes aged 4 and older. It includes a small, discreet sensor applied to the back of the upper arm that continuously measures glucose levels in the interstitial fluid. The sensor sends real-time glucose readings every minute to a compatible smartphone via the FreeStyle Libre 3 app. The app provides glucose history, trend arrows, and customizable alarms for high and low glucose levels. The system requires a 60-minute warm-up period when starting a new sensor and can be worn for up to 14 days. The app also allows data sharing with caregivers and healthcare providers through LibreLinkUp and LibreView.
