It is a single use needle that combines endoscopic visualization with ultrasound by placing a high frequency transducer on the end of the endoscope. This device has been proven to be useful in diagnosing and staging digestive tract lesions. Echogeneic needles have been engineered to provide excellent needle tip visibility. While remaining in position at the point of interest, the special outer sheath maintains flexibility and durability, reducing needle exposure to the endoscope channel. EUS needles are used to sample targeted submucosal gastrointestinal lesions through the accessory channel of an ultrasound endoscope.
